Academic Advisement

Attention Applicants
Please note that our academic advisors do not review admissions applications and will not be able to tell you your admission status.

MS applicants may contact Viterbi Graduate Admissions via the Viterbi Graduate Admissions Contact Form.
BS applicants may log in to the application portal to check their status.

We will be using Zoom to host virtual advisement sessions. Appointments must be scheduled through the appropriate online portals (my.usc.edu for undergraduates and myviterbi.usc.edu for graduates).  You will be emailed an invite to your virtual advisement session.

Email is the most efficient form of communication for academic advisement, please allow up to 2-3 business days for a response.

Current M.S. Data Science students should email viterbiservicedesk.dscimasters@usc.edu for assistance.

In-person appointments are available by contacting the advisement team directly with your availability for an in person appointment. To mitigate the spread of COVID-19, we encourage you to utilize virtual advisement. As we are a busy department with periods of high traffic, if you visit the office in-person, we kindly ask you to wear a mask to maximize protection of our community.

Taking Care of Yourself
Please remember to take care of yourself, and use common sense hygiene practices. Please stay home if you are sick, wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, cover your cough with your elbow or a tissue, and avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.

Practice social distancing and reduce your in-person interaction with others. By all of us doing our part, we can reduce the spread of the disease. Public health authorities have stated that social distancing is the most effective measure we can take to help keep our vulnerable community members safe and our health care system functioning.

If you have been notified by public health authorities or others that they may have had exposure to COVID-19 you must follow appropriate self-isolation instructions and notify the university by calling the COVID-19 hotline at 213-740-6291 or by emailing studenthealth@usc.edu.

For students who are ill and feel they need medical care, please call or schedule an appointment online with the USC Engemann Student Health Center at http://usc.edu/myshr, an advice nurse is available 24/7 by calling 213-740-9355 (WELL).

Email Etiquette Reminder: Include your full name, USC ID#, and degree program. Please be patient and allow at least 2 business days for us to respond to your inquiry.  Advisors do not review or answer email in the evenings or weekends.  It is not necessary to contact all advisors in the department. Thank you!
